Instruction for authors

Article 1 (Purpose)

This regulation aims to establish the necessary provisions for the review and publication determination of the Journal Behavior Analysis and Support (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) of the Korea Association for Behavior Analysis (hereinafter referred to as the Association).

 

Article 2 (Fields of Submission)

Submissions to the journal should be research on theories and practices related to behavior analysis and support based on applied behavior analysis or positive behavior support.

 

Article 3 (Eligibility for Submission)

① Contributors must be regular members of the Korea Association for Behavior Analysis.

② Only one paper per issue may be published by the same author; however, exceptions are made in the case of joint research.

③ Submissions from non-members are subject to the decision of the editorial board.

 

Article 4 (Submission Method)

① Submitted manuscripts must be prepared according to the manuscript preparation guidelines of 'Journal of Behavior Analysis and Support' (as specified in Article 7 of these regulations).

② One copy of the manuscript submission application form must be submitted by email (E-mail) following the specified format by the manuscript submission deadline. Email: jkaba_2023@daum.net

③ Submitted manuscripts should be submitted after registering as a member on the online manuscript submission system (https://kaba.jams.or.kr).

④ When submitting a manuscript, the KCI Similarity Check should be conducted, and the analysis report along with the manuscript should be submitted.

⑤ When submitting a manuscript, all authors, including the main author and co-authors, must review and agree to the 'Research Ethics Pledge' on the online manuscript submission system (https://kaba.jams.or.kr).

⑥ Remove all personally identifiable information (name, affiliation, etc.) from the file name and content of the Korean file attached to the online manuscript submission system.

⑦ Authors (including co-authors) of a manuscript confirmed for publication must complete and sign the 'Research Ethics Compliance Agreement' and 'Copyright Utilization Agreement' according to the specified format, and submit them by mail, fax, or scan and email.

 

Article 5 (Manuscript Submission Period)

The manuscript submission deadlines according to the publication dates of each issue are as follows.

Issue 1: Publication Date April 30 (Deadline: March 15)

Issue 2: Publication Date August 31 (Deadline: July 15)

Issue 3: Publication Date December 31 (Deadline: November 15)

 

Article 6 (Publication Fee)

① Authors of accepted manuscripts must pay a publication fee of 200,000 KRW. If one of the authors is a director or executive of the Society, the fee is reduced to 100,000 KRW.

Article 7 (Manuscript Preparation Guidelines)

Submitted manuscripts must be prepared according to the following manuscript preparation guidelines.

① Basic Format

1. It should be written using the Hangul word processing program.

2. Editing Paper

  • Paper type: The editing paper type is based on A4 (Kookbae-pan).
  • Margins: Top 14, Bottom 14, Left 15, Right 15, Header 17, Footer 17

3. The cover of the manuscript should include the title (in Korean and English), the author’s name (in Korean and English), an abstract in Korean, keywords in Korean, an abstract in English, keywords in English, the author’s email, position, affiliated institution, institution's address, submission date, revision submission date, and confirmation of publication date, all in English. The order of the abstract and keywords for Korean and English manuscripts is as follows.

⑴ For Korean manuscripts: the structure should be a Korean abstract within 10 lines in one paragraph (including research purpose, method, results, etc.), 3-5 Korean keywords, an English abstract within 10 lines in one paragraph (including research purpose, method, results, etc.), and 3-5 Key Words.

⑵ For English manuscripts: the structure should be an English abstract within 10 lines in one paragraph (including research purpose, method, results, etc.), 3-5 Key Words, a Korean abstract within 10 lines in one paragraph (including research purpose, method, results, etc.), and 3-5 Korean keywords.

6. Spacing: The first sentence of a paragraph starts with an indentation of 2 spaces (10pt). Between sentences, there is a space of 1 character, and there is no space between paragraphs (references should be formatted with a hanging indent of 30pt in the paragraph style).

7. Use of Terms: Korean should be used as the standard. However, in cases where there is a possibility of confusion regarding the meaning, the original term or Chinese characters should be included in parentheses when the term first appears.

③ Quotation

When the quoted content is short, it should be included within the main text. For longer quotations (three lines or more), they should be separated from the main text. In such cases, leave a blank line above and below the quoted section and indent the quotation by three characters on both sides.

 

④ Footnotes and endnotes

The use of endnotes is preferred. Endnotes are used for supplementary content or explanations that are difficult to include in the main text. Endnote content should be provided collectively before the references.

 

⑤ In-text citations

1. For indirect citations, the following format should be used:

· Example 1: According to Kim (2009), ...

· Example 2: Recent studies (Kim, 2009; Sugai, 2012) suggest that ... (When citing multiple sources for the same reference, list them alphabetically and separate them with a semicolon.)

· Example 3: One study (Kim, 2009) suggests that ...

2. For direct quotations, use quotation marks (" ") and include the page number.

· Example 1: According to Kim (2009), “..............” (p. 123)

· Example 2: One study suggests, “..............” (Kim, 2010, p. 123)

3. When there are two authors, both authors should be listed, and this should be the case for all subsequent references.

· Example 1: Kim and Han (2006) suggest that ...

· Example 2: One study (Kim & Han, 2006) indicates that ...

· Example 3: According to Horner and Sugai (2008), ...

· Example 4: One study (Horner & Sugai, 2008) suggests that ...

4. When there are three or more authors, list all authors in the first citation, and from the second citation onward, include only the first author followed by "et al." For four or more authors, begin with the first author in the first citation.

· Example 1: According to Kim et al. (2009), ...

· Example 2: Sugai et al. (2000) suggest that ...

· Example 3: Recent studies (Sugai et al., 2000) indicate that ...

 

⑥ Reference writing

1. The reference list should be written entirely in English at the end of the paper, and ordered by the authors' last names, following the order of the Korean alphabet and then alphabetical order in English.

2. The titles of books, periodicals, journals, and dissertations should be written in italics.

3.The titles of English books and papers should be written with only the first letter capitalized and the rest in lowercase. However, the titles of periodicals should have the first letter of each word capitalized.

4. Any format not specified in these regulations shall follow the APA style.

⑦ Table, Figure, Appendix

1. Each table, figure, and appendix should be assigned a serial number, formatted as <Table 1>, <Figure 1>, <Appendix 1>, respectively. Tables and figures should be placed within the main text, while appendices should be included after the references.

2. "The titles of tables and appendices should be placed at the top left, while the titles of figures should be placed at the bottom center.

3. When citing tables, figures, or appendices from other sources, the source must be provided at the bottom left for tables and appendices, and below the title in the center at the bottom for figures.

4. When using symbols, the font and spacing should be as follows.

⑴ p, F, and t should be written in italics.

⑵ M, N, and SD should be written in Shinmyeongjo font.

⑶ Leave half a space between symbols.(Example: p<.001, F(1.129)=2.71, t=4.52).

Article 1 (Effective Date)
These regulations shall come into effect on December 31, 2013.

Article 2 (Effective Date of Amendments)
These regulations shall come into effect on January 31, 2016.

Article 3 (Effective Date of Amendments)
These regulations shall come into effect on December 28, 2016..

Article 4 (Effective Date of Amendments)
These regulations shall come into effect on December 22, 2017.

These regulations shall come into effect on July 21, 2018.

These regulations shall come into effect on March 1, 2019.

These regulations shall come into effect on February 15, 2020.

Article 10 (Effective Date of Amendments)
These regulations shall come into effect on January 1, 2025.
